Boring after the first 20 levels

After you build up a big enough lead with ships and phazer stations you can just stop playing and hit begin at the start of each level. Your defense stations do all the work for you.

It does get really boring on easy mode after a while. Have you tried on hard mode? its pretty tough to get your base up and running with the limited resources.
